Public Administration Ph. D. Student Fellowship in

Information Technology Management and Governance

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) School of Public Administration (SPA) seeks applicants for a Public Administration Ph. D. student fellowship focusing on Information Technology Management and Digital Governance (e.g., Digital Government, E-participation, Artificial Intelligence, Crowdsourcing, Smart Governance, Data Analytics) in the public and nonprofit sectors. The SPA is the home to one of the few Ph.D. programs in Public Administration in the Great Plains region and boasts a supportive and collaborative academic culture. The Ph. D. in Public Administration in the SPA focuses on the role of public and nonprofit organizations in a democratic and diverse society. The faculty seeks applicants who wish to enter the academic job market or to contribute to knowledge development in public administration as a senior practitioner. A small number of applicants are admitted each year for the fall semester, with a particular emphasis on admitting full-time students.

The UNO is located in Omaha, Nebraska, which has an affordable cost of living, many amenities, and a diverse and vibrant IT community. The University of Nebraska at Omaha is a Carnegie Doctoral Research University, with a student body of about 15,000. We are a metropolitan university, located in the heart of Omaha, which has a population of 463,000. The population of the eight-county metropolitan area is 943,000. According to the most recent U.S. News and World Report, the SPA’s Master of Public Administration program is ranked #23 nationally in public affairs program; #5 in public finance and budgeting, #7 in local government management, as well as, #11 in nonprofit management.

The Information Technology Management and Digital Governance Fellowship includes four years of graduate assistantship funding (dependent on continuing to meet program requirements) and will include working with faculty and community partners through Digital Governance and Analytics Lab.  Additional important career-enhancing opportunities available to our PhD students include: undergraduate teaching, travel support, participation in research projects, and research publication.   • Dr. Jooho Lee, Associate Professor and Co-Director of Digital Governance and Analytics Lab Research interests include antecedents of the adoption of digital technology applications by public and nonprofit organizations and citizens, and its administrative, economic, political, and social impacts. jooholee@unomaha.edu
