SSTIG awards 2026

Posted on February 25, 2026 by Wendy Chen

Dear ASPA SSTIG members,

We are delighted to invite applications for SSTIG’s annual awards, which recognize the meaningful contributions and accomplishments of members across our community. We encourage eligible members to consider applying for the award that best reflects their work and service. This year, we are present three awards.

Award 1: Excellence in Science and Technology in Government Research Award

The Excellence in Science and Technology Research in Government Award recognizes a junior scholar (a doctoral student, a postdoctoral fellow, or a junior faculty member) who has made substantive research contributions to improve our understanding of how science and technology can be leveraged to enhance public services. The award aims to highlight research published within the past year that aligns with the scope of the Section on Science and Technology in Government (SSTIG) mission.

Award 2: Excellence in Science and Technology in Government Practice Award

The Excellence in Science and Technology in Government Practice Award recognizes the contributions of a public service professional in advancing information and communication technology adoption or innovation in government. The award aims to highlight the innovative work done by a government or nonprofit leader who has leveraged recent advancements in science and technology in enhancing his/her organization’s goals.

Award 3: Excellence in Science and Technology in Government Research Translation (Thought Leadership)  Award

The Excellence in Science and Technology in Government Research Translation Award honors a scholar who has contributed to bridging academic research and public-sector practice in alignment with the mission of the Section on Science and Technology in Government (SSTIG). It recognizes an individual who translate peer‑reviewed research or scholarly books into accessible public knowledge through public-facing media outlets that reach practitioners, policymakers, and the broader public.

All applications should be submitted through a single online application form. Applicants will be asked to select the appropriate award category and confirm that they meet the eligibility requirements for the selected award.

Application Deadline for all awards: 3/1/2026

The winners of the awards will receive a plaque of recognition at the SSTIG business meeting.

We warmly encourage eligible SSTIG members to apply and to share this announcement with colleagues who may be interested. If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the SSTIG Chair Professor Wendy Chen (Wendy.Chen@ttu.edu).

Thank you for your continued engagement with SSTIG. We look forward to receiving your applications.
